GatorTec began in 2001, and was originally known as SS Technologies. It was founded by Jim Dufek, a native Floridian who’s lived in Gainesville for almost 20 years. Recognizing a growing need for sales and support of Apple products in North Florida, Jim decided to take SS Technologies to the next level. In 2009, Jim changed the name to GatorTec and opened his first brick and mortar store in the Tioga Town Center in 2010. Following a period of rapid growth Jim decided to open a new, larger location at Butler Town Center in 2013, where we still reside to this day. Since then, GatorTec has grown into a team of more than 25 people serving Gainesville and the larger North Florida community.

In early 2012, GatorTec became an Apple Authorized Reseller – adding to their existing status of Apple Authorized Service Provider and Apple Consultant. In 2014, 2015, and 2016 GatorTec was recognized by Apple as a Premium Service Provider for consistently delivering exceptional repair support and customer experiences that meet Apple’s exacting standard for high-quality repair and prompt service. In December of 2015, GatorTec was recognized by Apple as a Premier Partner – a group of resellers who provide superior customer experience with focus on Apple solutions, service and support.

Customer Service Specialist

CUSTOMER SERVICE   •   Butler Plaza, Gainesville FL

As a Customer Service Specialist, you’re highly skilled at uncovering customers’ needs, then following through with enlightening solutions. Not only are you the first person customers meet when they enter the store, but you’re also the person who guides them — advising, selling, and even setting up their new products. You perform other roles within the store too, whether it’s maintaining visual merchandising or assisting team members. Always curious, you stay on top of news about products and initiatives, ready to apply your learning in customer interactions. Your success is measured by team and individual productivity as well as overall store performance. You’re proud to represent Apple, and you get great satisfaction from helping customers develop relationships with GatorTec.

Apple Trainer

TRAINING   •   Butler Plaza, Gainesville FL

As a Trainer, your main role is that of instructor, whether guiding small groups to learn or helping individuals complete projects. You use your presentation skills to act as a facilitator, helping users get set up, get trained, and get going. But you’re also an excellent listener, taking the time to understand what each user hopes to achieve or learn. By adjusting your teaching style to each user’s individual skill level, you maximize his or her understanding and your own time. You recognize that purchasing a new product can sometimes help customers attain their goals. You spend much of your time leading scheduled training sessions, but you’re still comfortable interacting with store customers between those sessions.

Additional Requirements

•You’re comfortable selling as well as teaching, helping your team members out as needed.

•You’re self-motivated and self-directed, and can adhere to a tightly structured training schedule.

•You can be adept at recommending other in-store support options, such as the Business Team.

•You’ll need to be flexible with your schedule. Your work hours will be based on business needs.

iOS Technician

APPLE SERVICE   •   Butler Plaza, Gainesville FL

As an iOS technician, you help new owners get started and current ones get quick, efficient support — developing strong, positive service relationships with GatorTec and Apple. When a customer needs assistance, you quickly assess their situation. Sometimes you take care of customers with advice or a solution on the spot, using your knowledge of current Apple technology to help with iPhone and iPad devices. At other times, you refer customers to support team members who get them up and running again. In this role, you will be required to train to become an Apple Certified iOS technician where you will learn the skills to diagnose and repair the iPhone. The entire store team benefits from your commitment to providing the best care for customers. By helping GatorTec maintain strong relationships with customers, you are instrumental to our success.

Additional Requirements

•You have excellent time management skills and can make decisions quickly.

•You must obtain the certification of Apple Certified iOS Technician during the probationary period.

•You maintain composure and customer focus while troubleshooting and solving issues.

•You reassure customers when delivering product diagnoses and potential solutions.

•You’ll need to be flexible with your schedule. Your work hours will be based on business needs.
