MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Firmware Updates
September 14, 2011 Filed in: Mac
Today Apple released updates to the MacBook Air and Pro computers. These updates resolve some minor issues with regards to the new Thunderbolt IO found on these devices. This update also fixes issues some users have had with Lion recovery. Make sure you run Software Update and get these new updates!

Hmmm, I guess Apple decided that MacBook Pro’s WITHOUT Thunderbolt I/O don’t need to fix issues with Lion recovery. Have we been forgotten?
I don’t think all of us MacBook Pro non-Thunderbolt owners have been forgotten, it just that if our computers do not have the hardware then there is no way to update it.
Does Thunderbolt I/O specifically have something to do with Lion recovery?
No, not directly. Lion Recovery over the air is actually a small chipset that Apple added to the newest MacBook Airs that is part of their firmware and allows the machine to load a very simple OS and get on the Internet and download Lion for a reinstall. This chipset is only found on the MacBook Airs and the newest MacBook Pros although it was not until this most recent update that Apple enabled that functionality on the MacBook Pros.
Oh. Thank you for explaining that to me.
