HP to spin-off PC division

This week has been something of an economic roller coaster, but in the tech industry the big news is about HP. The worlds largest computer manufacture is looking to spin-off its PC manufacturing division and focus on software. They have already announced they are killing their tablet and smartphone divisions – they will license webOS to third parties to build the phones.

So what does this all mean to all the loyal HP users? Not much just yet. HP will still provide support for the machines they are selling. This is somewhat like when IBM sold their PC division to Lenovo, although many people had major concerns, the end result was that they still make some great machines. So don’t panic, HP (in some form) will be around for a long time.
