iPhone 4 Review

Well, we have had the iPhone 4 for a week now and wow…wow! Let’s start with build quality – it is like the Lamborghini of cell phones. I’ve owned many phones over the years (along with other electronic devices) and this blows them all away. It feels solid and the lines look amazing. Well, lots to cover so we won’t stay on this any longer, but once you hold one every other phone will feel like a toy.

As for specs, most people have heard them already, but specs don’t necessarily mean much – real life performance does and the iPhone 4 performs great in real life. The camera is great, pictures are clear and sharp. Much better then previous iPhones and almost every other smart phone. Video again is very impressive – never thought you could shoot (and edit thanks to iMovie for iPhone) a HD video on a phone. The backlight is a welcomed addition to the phone. The screen is stunning, again it will make you look at every other screen and laugh. Every font looks like it is written on paper, no more having to enlarge every email or webpage. The speed of the new phone is amazing, apps snap open, webpages load in seconds, the camera shutter is super responsive. Oh yeah…FaceTime, let’s not forget FaceTime. Possibly one of the most revolutionary features of this phone. Yes, other phones have front facing cameras and do video chatting, but none are this easy to use. You simply call another iPhone user and press FaceTime and boom video chat! Super simple and easy – the way video chatting should be.

Ok, onto iOS 4 the operating system of the new iPhone. It’s a big jump and brings lots of new features, the biggest (and most requested) multitasking! Lots of people don’t understand multitasking or how the iPhone does it differently then other phones, so lets take a minute and explain it. Many times you might be listening to music over Pandora or talking on Skype to a friend. In the past if your went to check your email or calendar the music or calls stopped. Not anymore, now those apps keep going while you change apps. The way this is so much different then other phones is that most phones handle multitasking by leaving the entire application open. This is fine, but very resource intensive on both the phones ability to perform well and have good battery life. Apple decided to find the most common features people wanted from their apps and only allow those features to run in the background. This saves battery and keeps your phone nice and fast. Next up is the unified inbox – if you are one of us lucky people with personal and company email accounts, you no longer need to check multiple inboxes, everything funnels into one. The new iOS now also has folders to better organize apps. Really cleans up your app pages. Although there are lots more features, we have to save some surprises for you when you get your phone :) So stop in any AT&T store and check out the new iPhone 4!

By the way GatorTec has a big order of new iPhone 4 cases coming in soon, with lots of new cases arriving every week! So stop in or give us a call!
